  Being a curator, historian and author I often need to conduct research at the cemetery to verify information, dates, etc. I also end up interviewing family members or witnesses who are originally from the area and request further information about their family and the state of their loved ones' grave site. For people far from home and helping me with historical research, I'm happy to return the favor if I can.
  
  I have been in to the Porterville Cemetery office on numerous occasions for assistance in locating someone interred there - this is the only way you can obtain information as they have no website, no social media presence and do not make this information accessible by any other means - in result, you have no choice but to ask for assistance in the office.
  
  On such occasions there is an older lady, perhaps in her 60s, who is hostile to such requests and has not only refused to help myself or others, stating "I have other work to do and I don't want to help you." Seriously, just flat out "I don't want to help you."
  
  I've called the city and spoken to numerous employees who all confirm that the cemetery is owned by a private party and not under any jurisdiction.
